How early could we put our son in a regular bed?
Question by dcslmt: How early could we put our son in a regular bed?
Our crib does not convert to a toddler/daybed. I thought I would just use it on the lowest mattress setting until he was ready for a big boy bed. I did count on the fact that my son would be a tank – 34 inches and 29 pounds at his one-year checkup. He is very tall and very strong, and is trying to climb out of his crib at just 13 months. It won’t be long before he pulls it off.
He still scoots all over his crib while he sleeps, and plays with the sides when he’s awake. I worry about putting him in a big boy bed this soon, but it’s go to be more dangerous to let him climb up and drop over the sides of his crib!
Any insights?
EDIT to HomeSchoolBabies: This is an issue that is important to me, and I’m not charging people $ 15 per day to think about it. Your question was advertising, pure and simple, and I have reported both it and your response. I am also a small business owner, but I would never abuse a system such as YA for free marketing, much less paint myself as a philanthropist for doing it.

You never need to use a crib.
Google “montessori bed.” The idea is to have a mattress low on the ground so the risk of falling off is minimalized. The best thing I can say about this method is it gives the child more freedom. When they wake up, they can crawl right off and go get mommy, instead of crying and waiting to be picked up.
