Question by : What’s the best alternative for a twin xl comforter?
I’m going to have a twin xl bed for my dorm. I understand I definitely need have twin xl sized sheets and a twin xl sized mattress pad, they’re pretty easy to find. I’m having a difficult time finding twin xl comforters that aren’t too boring or ugly however. And yes I’ve searched alot of places for decent twin xl comforters in stores and online already with no luck. If I were to get a different sized comforter, which size would be the best alternative?: regular twin, full, queen, or king? I already understand it wouldn’t fit perfectly and that the bigger sizes will hang off the bed or I may have to fold it in half or something. Any suggestions on what would be best?

Regular twin would be best.

Some are going to be long enough to fit your bed anyway. (A twin x-long is only five inches longer than a regular twin.) The ones that aren’t, you can always pull the comforter down towards the foot those five inches. Once you fold over the comforter and top sheet to put your pillow(s) at the head, you won’t be able to tell.

Full is still going to be to short, and obviously lopsided.

To get extra length, you’d need to go to queen, and that will probably be so wide it will drag on the floor. (On the sides only–it’ll probably just cover your mattress at the foot.)

You can tell how a comforter will fit by measuring the width of your mattress and looking at the measurements on the package. A twin x-long mattress is 80″ long. If your mattress is 10″ thick, any comforter 90″ long or more will completely cover the mattress. Anything less than 90″ will need to be pulled down towards the foot.
