I would check the mattress for dips in the middle, torn fabric, etc. to make sure it's in good condition. I used the same mattress for 3 of my kids....no troubles. Good luck! If the mattress she gives you fits snugly in the crib and you can clean it, I personally would just use the mattress that comes with it.
