A mattress like that is thin and similar to a roll away bed mattress. Those are terrible to sleep on. I've seen bed frames that have a twin mattress on top and space below for the other twin that pops out and up to make a queen mattress. Of course you have a small gap in the middle. I'd say a futon would do the job, BUT, if like me you haven't got the room go for a double inflatable mattress, we got one 3 years ago, it takes up hardly any room is quick to inflate and is still as good as new!
