I need to get 20 cheap mattresses but where?

By fthomas | April 15, 2009

best mattresses

I´m setting up a retreat space in italy. I would like to get futons for everyone but that´s probably not realistic price-wise.

Are cheap foam or futon-styöe mattresses cheap to get anywhere in europe or online or am i best off going somewhere in asia to buy them and send them back?

Tim’s suggestion is probably the best one. Or do you have any army surplus stores where you are?

    Good luck!

It is not economical to import 20 of anything. IF these mattresses are made in Asia, they are imported by the shipload.

Italy was actually one of the early manufacturers of rubber products, through the Pirelli factory, today best known for car tyres.

Most places, they get the bulk foam, from where-ever, and cut and cover it locally, to order. They will usually be rubber and camping gear specialists.
If you are placing a single layer mattress on the floor, protect them by placing them on those thick foam pads made for gyms.

Amazon.com has some really cheap mattresses. Just make sure to get a memory foam mattress topper pad. Those are the best! Before you buy, take a look at a couple memory foam review sites like to figure out which mattress is the best for you.
