Buying new mattress. which is best?

By fthomas | May 19, 2009

simmons beautyrest mattress

Right now I have a bed that is terrible… it “squeaks” soooo bad and is not comfortable. I would like not to spend more than $1300. I was told the tempur pedic is overrated. Then I was looking in Sealy PosturePedic but heard that people have backaches from it. Now I’m looking at Simmons Beautyrest and these are kinda expensive… but if they are great I am willing to buy one. (Also I heard pillow tops are overrated, is this true?) What is the best mattress in your opinion?

I highly recommend the Beautyrest. It’s the BEST mattress I’ve ever slept on. Worth every penny.

there is no “best matress” it just has to be a good quality and the one that feels most comforable to you like for examle it needs to be sewn together well. but it really only matters that u find it comfortable . dont listen to the salespeople

I like the memory foam pillowtops. Sealy, Spring Air and Simmons all make one. Mattresses are like cars kinda… its more about the model than the brand / also it is a matter of personal taste. Go to the store and try them all out. Don’t buy off-brand . Tempurpedic and sleep number are over-rated gimmicks.

I just bought the Simmons Beauty Rest from Rooms to Go in addition to a new bed. I spent $1200 for both the mattress set and the bed…and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE it. I do have the pillow top and it is so comfortable. The mattress isn’t just soft and comfortable, but it has great support. (I have constant back pain and this bed is wonderful.)

I have heard that the Tempur Pedic mattresses are overrated, so I wouldn’t spend the money. I was in the same dilemma as you are now between Sealy Posture Pedic and Simmons, but when I spoke to the person at Rooms To Go, they recommended Simmons and I’m very pleased. Here’s the links to the ones that I purchased…

There is no squeaking, no moving, VERY sturdy. I just got it on March 13 and couldn’t be happier.

Buy a matress thats comfortable to lay on. Try different ones to find the best for you. Dont get one too hard or too soft. I like a firm one and get a good night sleep too. You dont have to spend that much money to get a good one!

The downside to most innerspring mattresses is the minimal quality polyurethane foam used in the top comfort layer, which rapidly degrades resulting in body depressions.

Since everyone has different body weights, sleeping positions, neck-back-hip issues, and personal comfort preferences, only YOU can determine which type of mattress configuration is the most comfortable.
