I’m allergic to cats and dust mites…and every little thing else. I will waked up in the middle of the night with asthma attacks and my eyes are so swollen I can’t see. We got our mattress employed from a couple that also bought it utilized (gross right?) We are supposed to get a new mattress and I’ve been trying to do a lot of shopping but consumerreports.org demands a paid subscription. So in your opinions what is the finest mattress for an allergy sufferer?

So people will say every day, week,or month what ever you prefer. But no longer that a month
The best can be very expensive, but there is a better solution for your problem. Encase your box spring & mattress in special sheets that expressly prevents them from “bugging” you. Check the website below, it also has very helpful hints on what else to do to your bedroom for allergy/asthma comfort, and won’t break your pocketbook. They have cleaning, washing, laundering, and even personal solutions.

Simmons makes a mattress that you can unzip the top and throw in the washer.
I am in your boat. Through a lot of research, I found out that you don’t have to spend a lot of money on a mattress, but you DO need to control your environment.
Do not keep things in your room or on your bed that will attract or hold dust or dust mites
1) Get a washable mattress cover
2) Change the linens on your bed, every third day–always
3) Wash your linens in HOT water
4) Wash your mattress cover once a week in HOT water
5) Get washable covers for your pillows–wash with mattress cover–in HOT water.
6) Never use a pillow that is over a year old.
7) Purchase a bedspread that can be washed in HOT water and wash it once a week.
9) Vacuum your bedroom thoroughly, around your bed and under your bed a minimum of once a week.
10) Make sure that your drapes can be put in the dryer through a hot cycle of at least 10 minutes–once a month.
You can’t avoid dust mites but you should try to avoid cats.
